Haven’t heard of the Dark Web? Well you are not alone. Shrouded in mystery the Dark Web is typically associated with illegal activities. Something that was brought to the world’s attention through Silkroad – an online black marketplace.
Put simply the Dark Web is inaccessible through a typical browser, where you need a special browser (Tor Browser) to access it. It is configured in a way that hides your true identity/location.
Jamie Bartlett makes a number of valid points around the Deep Web and its move into mainstream society. However, the stigma and the research suggests the majority of activity is still illegal.
I am not convinced the Dark Web will go mainstream, however whatever path the Dark Web takes it this TED Talk is worth viewing.
