Retaining top talent long term is becoming more difficult as employees are continuously exposed, and continually persuaded, to join companies with more enticing company cultures and better work environments.
Personally, I think IBM got it right in how they suggest an employee’s experience could be improved by including a greater focus on increasing workplace flexibility and autonomy, encouraging transparency, and promoting honesty throughout the company.
Streamlining workplace processes, promoting authenticity in the company’s culture and leadership and providing real-time feedback to team members is definitely the way to go.
We need to consider how desirable our companies are, how engaged are employees are, and how likely our workers are to hightail it as soon as a more attractive proposition comes along.
