After many years working from home, I feel like I now have this down to a fine art.
Many people comment that they "could never work from home" but I actually quite enjoy it and, with a few simple self-imposed rules, it can be just as successful as working in the office.
My biggest rule is to always dress for work - you never know when you might need to have a Skype meeting and it's impossible to feel professional when you are wearing your pajamas! I do just make one exception to this rule. For example, in winter I allow myself to wear my "home office high heels", commonly known as slippers.
As technology changes, we are seeing more companies adopt policies around working hours and giving more staff the ability to work from home. Would it work for you?
Within the next decade, technology and other forces will fundamentally shift the way business is done, the way we work and how we live.
